11 Solo Travel Destinations for 2027

So, where to travel in 2027? Well, it depends on what kind of trip you want. Maybe you’re dreaming about beaches and slow mornings, maybe you want mountains and hiking, or maybe your main travel goal is to eat everything….

I’ve picked 11 destinations for 11 different types of solo travelers, so you can find a trip that fits you. It’s not just another random list of “best countries.” 😉

Ready? Let’s find your 2027 travel match.

1. Albania 🇦🇱 For the Beach Lover & Hiker

Turquoise water, mountain villages, Mediterranean food, beautiful beaches and some seriously good hiking.

If your ideal solo trip involves swimming, eating, hiking and doing nothing for several hours, Albania could be your 2027 destination.

The Albanian Riviera is the obvious place to look for a summer beach trip, but don’t feel like you need to stay by the coast the whole time. Albania has some amazing mountain landscapes too.

I hiked in the Albanian Alps and loved it. The scenery was stunning, and it was one of those trips where you can combine proper hiking days with good food, smaller towns and relaxing by the sea afterwards.

That mix is what makes Albania such a fun solo destination. You can have an active trip without giving up those lazy Mediterranean days.

Money tip: Summer is the busiest season, travelling in the shoulder season can help you avoid higher prices.

Best for: Beaches, hiking, summer trips and travelers who want a Mediterranean escape.

2. Georgia 🇬🇪 For the Mountain Lover

Georgia gives you a great combination of mountains, culture, food and adventure.

Tbilisi is great for a few city days, while the Caucasus offers hiking and beautiful landscapes. You can have a proper city break and then swap cobblestone streets for mountain views without changing the country.

I especially loved the mountains around Kazbegi. If you love being surrounded by mountains, this is a place to put on your list.

If hiking is your main reason for going, look beyond Tbilisi and explore mountain regions such as Kazbegi and Svaneti.

Best for: Hikers, culture lovers and adventurous solo travelers.

3. Vietnam 🇻🇳 For the Foodie on a Budget

If food is one of your main reasons for travelling, Vietnam deserves a serious look.

Pho, bánh mì, Vietnamese coffee, fresh spring rolls… your biggest problem might be fitting everything into your stomach.

Vietnam is also a great option for solo travelers who want good food, many things to see and a trip that can work with a smaller budget. You can move between cities by train or bus and easily mix city life, nature and beach time.

Best for: Foodies, budget travelers and first-time solo travelers in Southeast Asia.

4. Slovenia 🇸🇮 For the Nature Lover

Slovenia is small but has lakes, mountains, forests and pretty towns.

Lake Bled gets most of the attention, but there is much more to explore beyond that famous viewpoint. You can combine Ljubljana with Lake Bled and other nature spots without planning a big cross-country adventure.

That’s one of the things I love about this kind of trip: you can see a lot without spending half your holiday getting from A to B.

Best for: Nature lovers, hikers and relaxed solo trips.

5. Kenya 🇰🇪 For the Wildlife Lover

If seeing wildlife in the wild is high on your travel list, Kenya deserves a spot.

Elephants, lions, giraffes and huge landscapes.

A safari can be the main event, but you can also build in other experiences depending on your time and budget.

Keep in mind: Kenya can cost much more than a typical budget destination once you add safari costs, accommodation and transport. This is one to plan carefully rather than book on impulse.

Best for: Wildlife lovers, photographers and travelers planning a big adventure.

6. Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 For the Slow Traveler

Sri Lanka is a great destination if you want to slow down instead of rushing through ten places in ten days.

You can take scenic train rides, spend time in tea country, visit temples, explore national parks and finish with a few days by the beach.

Pick a few places and give yourself enough time to

enjoy them.

Best for: Slow travelers, culture lovers, nature fans and anyone who needs a holiday after their holiday.

7. Jordan 🇯🇴 For the Desert Lover

Petra, Wadi Rum, ancient history and big desert landscapes.

Jordan is a great choice if you want a trip that combines culture, history and adventure rather than ticking off another capital city.

A classic trip could combine Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum, with enough time to enjoy each place instead of racing through them.

And yes, spending a night in the desert belongs on the bucket list. It was hot but I loved it!

Best for: Desert lovers, history fans and adventurous solo travelers.

8. Spain 🇪🇸 For the City Lover

Okay, I’m biased.

But Spain is a fantastic choice for a solo trip if you want beautiful cities, beaches, food, nightlife, culture and a lot to explore.

I’ve lived in Spain for 10 years and traveled to many different parts of the country. And that’s what I love about Spain: there’s so much more than one city or one type of trip. You can explore historic cities, hike in the mountains, relax on Mediterranean beaches or escape to one of the islands for a completely different vibe.

Barcelona is one of my favourite places for solo travel, but I’ve also loved discovering other parts of Spain. You can build a trip around what you enjoy most… city breaks, food, nature, beaches, hiking or island life.

Best for: City lovers, foodies, culture lovers, first-time solo travelers and anyone who wants plenty of variety.

9. Guatemala 🇬🇹 For the Volcano Chaser

Guatemala is a dream if you want your trip to involve volcanoes, lakes, colourful towns and serious adventure.

And if hiking up a volcano to watch another volcano erupt sounds like your idea of fun… put Guatemala on the list.

You can combine places such as Antigua and Lake Atitlán with bigger adventures, making it a great choice if you want a trip where every few days feels different.

Best for: Hikers, adventure travelers and photographers.

10. Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 For the “Take Me Somewhere Different” Traveler

Want somewhere that isn’t already on everyone’s 2027 group-chat itinerary?

Try Kyrgyzstan. Big mountains, alpine lakes, horse trekking and traditional yurt stays.

I traveled through Kyrgyzstan in 2026, including Chon-Kemin and Song-Kul, where I stayed in a yurt at around 3,000 metres.

And yes, waking up surrounded by mountains was worth the cold…

It’s a great destination if you want big landscapes, adventure and something that feels different from your usual holiday.

Best for: Experienced solo travelers, mountain lovers and anyone looking for something less predictable.

11. Antarctica 🐧 For the Once-in-a-Lifetime Traveler

Some trips are holidays. Antarctica is an event…

I traveled solo to Antarctica in 2024 on an 11-day expedition, including a night camping on the ice.

Yes, camping on the ice! And no, I didn’t become someone who enjoys sleeping in freezing temperatures. But how could I not make an exception for the 7th continent?

Antarctica isn’t a budget destination, I know, but if you’ve been saving for a big travel experience, this is the kind of trip that can become a life memory.

And there is something special about being able to say: “So, I went to Antarctica…”

Best for: Once-in-a-lifetime travelers, wildlife lovers and anyone who wants a story that starts with “So, I went to Antarctica…”

How to Plan Your 2027 Solo Trip

You don’t need to book everything today.

Start with three things:

  1. 1. Pick your destination.
Once you’ve picked your destination, start looking at accommodation. I compare Booking.com for hotels, guesthouses and apartments in different areas.
  2. 2. Set your realistic budget.
Think about the total cost of your trip, including flights, accommodation, food, transport and activities.
  3. 3. Start watching flight prices.
I start with Skyscanner to compare different dates, flight prices and nearby airports. Being flexible by a day or two can sometimes make a big difference.

Where to Find Cheap Flights, Hotels and Tours for Your 2027 Trip

Once you’ve picked where to travel in 2027, it’s time to turn the idea into a trip.

You don’t need to book everything at once. I compare a few options first so I can see what fits my budget.

Mini FAQ: Solo Female Travel

Here are the most common questions about traveling solo to affortable places.

Where can I find hotels and hostels for a solo trip?

For hotels, apartments, and guesthouses, I check Booking.com to compare prices and locations. If I’m traveling on a low budget, Hostelworld is a good way to find hostels and checking reviews from other travelers.

Where can I book tours and activities for a solo trip?

I use GetYourGuide and Viator to find and compare activities, day trips, guided tours, and experiences at my destination. They are useful when you want to book something in advance instead of figuring it out after you arrive.

Where can I book multi-day tours as a solo traveler?

For multi-day group tours and organised trips, TourRadar is a useful place to compare different itineraries, destinations, tour operators, and prices in one place.

Where can I find cheap flights?

I  start with Skyscanner to compare different airlines, dates, and routes. If your dates are flexible, checking a few different departure days can help you find cheaper fares.

Final Thoughts – Last Stop Before Takeoff!
